Going into the final event of the 2019 IMSA season, Britt Casey Jr. and Michael Taylor will be reunited in the No.17 Unitronic Audi RS 3 LMS TCR Car, as they look for a repeat of their victory together at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park this past July.
They started the season off strong with a second-place at Sebring International Raceway, which was Taylor’s first race in the No. 17 Unitronic car after Casey took home the TCR championship in the same car in the 2018 season. They then reunited for title sponsor Unitronic’s home race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, where they swept every session in the competitive TCR field during the weekend. Taylor set the fastest lap time in the qualifying for TCR which was fast enough to place him 7th overall amongst the GT4 competitors. After an intense race and some issues in the pit lane, Casey battled through the field and brought home the first victory for the No. 17 Unitronic RS 3 LMS. “Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is one of my favorite circuits on the IMSA schedule. The high-grip layout is fantastic and I love the history of the facility. As the last race of the season, it’s the last time we will be able to showcase the #17 Audi RS 3 LMS this year. The whole team is onboard to cap off the season on a high note!”, says Casey.
Since Canada, Taylor has stepped away from being in the car to focus on business efforts with his companies, Out There Brands and Out There Motorsport Management, but is ready to get back in the car and had this to say “I’m really excited to get back in the car with Britt to finish off the year. I love this track, and I think we’ve proven we’ve had a fast car all year. So we’ve just got to put our heads down and execute all weekend. It’ll be a fun weekend knowing we’ll have a lot of support out at the track and from all our partners watching.”
The Fox Factory 120 for the IMSA Michelin Sportscar Challenge will take place on Friday, October 11th, at 1:25PM ET. You can tune in on IMSA.com or download and watch on the IMSA App!
